The 2026 Illinois rebate checklist.
One page, everything in order — what to gather, which programs to check, and how to stack them. Print it, or let us do all of it for you.
1 · Gather these first
2 · Programs to check in Illinois
ComEd, Ameren and Nicor fund real efficiency money in Illinois.
ComEd / Ameren Illinois programs
Rebates on heat pumps, efficient AC and smart thermostats.
Nicor Gas / Peoples Gas / North Shore Gas
High-efficiency furnace, boiler and weatherization rebates.
Illinois Home Energy Rebates
State whole-home rebates with the largest support for income-eligible households.
Program terms, amounts, and funding change frequently — verify current details with each administrator (or let us verify them for your exact address).
3 · Stacking rules of thumb
- Stack in the right order: utility rebates usually apply first, then state programs — the sequence can change what each pays.
- Check income-eligible tiers before assuming you don't qualify — thresholds are often higher than people expect (frequently 60–80% of state median income or above).
- Get program approval BEFORE installation wherever required — many programs will not pay retroactively.
- Federal 25C tax credits ended December 31, 2025 — state and utility money is now the main event, and budgets can run out mid-year. Earlier in the year is better.
- Keep every receipt, AHRI certificate, and permit — programs audit.
Or hand us the whole maze.
Your free efficiency plan verifies every IL program for your exact address — and shows you exactly how to claim what applies.
