Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 2, 2026 · Last updated: July 2, 2026

The short version: we collect the information you give us and the information your visit and connected devices generate. We use it to run your project, capture your rebates, operate and improve our business (including with AI), and market our services. We share it with the companies that help us do those things. We honor your privacy rights — including the right to opt out of targeted-advertising “sales” or “sharing” — via or support@nuhomeservice.com.

1. Notice at Collection (California)

At or before the point we collect personal information, California residents are entitled to know: what we collect — the categories listed in Section 3; why — the purposes listed in Section 4; whether it is “sold” or “shared” — certain advertising disclosures described in Section 6 may qualify, and you may opt out at any time via the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer; and how long we keep it — per the retention criteria in Section 10. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a “Right to Limit” under the CPRA.

2. Who we are & what this covers

This Privacy Policy is issued by Nu Home Services (doing business as “Nu Home”) together with its parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates (collectively, “Nu Home,” “we,” “us”). It covers personal information we collect through this website, our forms, calls, texts and emails with you, our applications and connected-home services (including Nu Intelligence), our sales and installation process, and offline interactions — in each case wherever this policy is posted, linked, or referenced. It does not cover third-party websites we link to, or the independent practices of utilities, program administrators, or manufacturers.

3. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we collect the following categories of personal information (aligned to the categories in California Civil Code §1798.140):

  • Identifiers & contact details — name, postal address, email, phone number(s), IP address, device and online identifiers, and account credentials if you create an account.
  • Home & customer records — property details (type, age, systems, insulation, square footage), utility provider, approximate or actual energy usage and bills, project details, signatures, payment and financing details (payment card data is handled by our payment processors), and information reasonably needed to determine rebate or program eligibility (which may include household income range where a program requires it).
  • Commercial information — quotes, plans, purchases, service history, and preferences.
  • Internet & app activity — pages viewed, links clicked, referring URLs and campaigns, session information, and interactions with our emails, texts, ads, chats, and forms, collected directly and via cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies (see Section 6).
  • Approximate geolocation — as derived from your IP address or ZIP code. We do not collect precise GPS-level geolocation from this website.
  • Audio, video & sensor data — call recordings and voicemails (see Section 8); if you purchase connected or security products, device event data, sensor readings, and camera audio/video that you configure those products to capture.
  • Inferences — profiles and predictions we draw from the above, such as estimated savings, home-efficiency scores, product interest, and likelihood to benefit from a program.

Sources. We collect this information from you directly; automatically from your devices and our products; from the local installation partners and program administrators working on your project; from our affiliates; from advertising, analytics, and measurement partners; from data providers and public records; from social networks if you interact with our pages; and from referrals and lead providers where permitted by law.

4. How we use personal information

We use personal information for the following business and commercial purposes, and for any other purpose described to you at collection or with your consent:

  • Delivering our services — building your efficiency plan; estimating savings; designing systems; determining, verifying, and filing rebate, incentive, and financing applications on your behalf; scheduling and coordinating installation; providing warranties and support.
  • Communications — responding to you and, with any legally required consent, contacting you by phone, text, email, mail, and messaging platforms about your project, quotes, appointments, and offers.
  • Marketing & advertising — sending promotional communications; building and managing audiences; measuring, optimizing, and attributing campaigns across platforms; personalizing content and offers on and off our sites.
  • Analytics, research & product improvement — understanding usage; testing; developing new products, services, features, and content.
  • Artificial intelligence — operating Nu Intelligence features (such as efficiency scoring, anomaly detection, and savings tracking) and training, fine-tuning, evaluating, and improving our models, algorithms, and automated systems. Where reasonably practicable we use de-identified or aggregated data for model improvement.
  • Operations — account management, billing, record-keeping, quality assurance (including reviewing recorded calls), training our teams and partners, and managing our vendor and partner network.
  • Security & fraud prevention — verifying identity, protecting our systems, customers, and business, and debugging.
  • Legal — complying with law, program and utility requirements, tax and licensing obligations; enforcing agreements; establishing and defending legal claims.
  • Corporate transactions — evaluating or completing a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which personal information may be among the transferred assets.

De-identified & aggregated data. We may create de-identified or aggregated data from personal information and use and disclose it for any lawful purpose. Where we maintain de-identified data, we commit to maintaining it in de-identified form and not attempting to re-identify it, except as permitted by law to test our de-identification processes.

5. How we disclose personal information

We disclose each of the categories in Section 3 to the following categories of recipients, for the purposes in Section 4:

  • Service providers & contractors — companies that process personal information on our behalf under contract, including hosting and cloud infrastructure; CRM, sales, and customer-service platforms; telephony, dialing, texting, and email providers; scheduling, e-signature, document, payment, and financing-application processors; analytics and measurement vendors; AI and data-processing tools; and professional services.
  • Local installation partners — the licensed, insured contractors assigned to your project, who are contractually required to use your information only to perform and support your project and related services.
  • Program administrators & utilities — state, municipal, and utility rebate/incentive programs, and their processors, when we determine eligibility and file applications for you.
  • Financing & insurance partners — when you ask us to arrange financing, leases, or coverage options.
  • Advertising & analytics partners — ad platforms, networks, and measurement companies that help us advertise and understand performance (see Section 6 — this is where an opt-out right applies).
  • Affiliates — our corporate family, for the purposes described in this policy.
  • Professional advisors & authorities — lawyers, accountants, insurers, auditors; and courts, regulators, or law enforcement where required or permitted by law, to protect rights, safety, and property, or to enforce our terms.
  • Successors — parties to an actual or contemplated corporate transaction, under confidentiality protections.
  • With your direction or consent — anyone else you ask us to share with.

6. Cookies, advertising, and your opt-out (“sale”/“sharing”)

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies load only after you make a choice in our consent banner, and you can change your choices any time via Your Privacy Choices in the footer.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, when advertising cookies are enabled, disclosures of identifiers and internet-activity data to advertising platforms for cross-context behavioral advertising may be a “sale” or “sharing” as those terms are defined by California and similar state laws, and using such data may constitute “targeted advertising.” You may opt out at any time — with effect for your browser via the footer link, or for you as a person by emailing support@nuhomeservice.com with the subject “Opt out of sale/share.”

Universal opt-out signals. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar legally recognized opt-out preference signals: when detected, advertising cookies are disabled for that browser and treated as an opt-out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising. We treat legacy “Do Not Track” headers the same way.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

7. Text messaging (SMS/MMS)

When you opt in to texts, you agree to receive recurring service and marketing messages from Nu Home at the number provided, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. We honor opt-out requests made by any reasonable method within ten (10) business days. No mobile opt-in data or consent to receive text messages is shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data may be shared with our messaging service providers solely to deliver our messages.

8. Calls, recordings, and chats

Calls with us and with the local partner on your project may be monitored and recorded for quality, training, compliance, and record-keeping. Where the law requires all-party consent (for example in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania), you will be told at the start of the call — continuing after that notice is your consent. Website chat and messaging conversations may likewise be logged and retained; do not share information in chat that you do not want recorded.

9. Nu Intelligence & automated processing

Nu Intelligence analyzes your home profile, usage information, and — if you have connected devices — device signals, in order to score efficiency, detect anomalies, estimate savings, and recommend actions and programs. These outputs are recommendations: any decision with legal or similarly significant effects (such as final program eligibility or financing) is made by the relevant program, lender, or a human — not solely by an algorithm. We do not use facial-recognition on camera footage, and we do not collect biometric identifiers (as defined by laws like the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act) unless we first obtain your separate, express written consent and publish a retention schedule.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy, determined by criteria including: the life of your quote, project, warranty, and customer relationship; obligations to rebate programs, utilities, tax, and licensing authorities (which commonly require multi-year retention of filings); the need to keep records of consents and opt-outs; the statutes of limitations for legal claims; and legitimate business, backup, and security needs. When information is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify, or securely archive it.

11. Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information — including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor contracts — consistent with frameworks like the Massachusetts data-security regulations (201 CMR 17.00) and the New York SHIELD Act. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee security; please use unique passwords and be alert to phishing.

12. Your privacy rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know/access the personal information we hold, get a portable copy, correct inaccuracies, delete your information, opt out of targeted advertising and of “sales”/“sharing,” and opt out of certain profiling. We extend the core access/correct/delete rights to all U.S. customers as a courtesy, regardless of state.

How to exercise your rights:

  • Email support@nuhomeservice.com with the subject “Privacy request”;
  • Call us at (888) 555-0148; or
  • For cookie-based opt-outs, use Your Privacy Choices in the footer (honored per-browser) — GPC signals are honored automatically.

Verification. We will verify requests using information we already hold (for example, matching your email or phone and recent project details) and may ask for more information where needed. You may use an authorized agent; we will require proof of the agent's authority and may still verify you directly. We respond within the time required by your state's law (generally 45 days, extendable once where permitted). We will never discriminate against you — in price, service, or quality — for exercising a privacy right.

Appeals. If we decline a request and you live in a state with an appeal right (including Virginia, Connecticut, Texas, Maryland, and New Jersey), you may appeal by replying to our decision email with “Appeal” in the subject line within 60 days. We will respond within your state's required window and, if we deny the appeal, we will tell you how to contact your state Attorney General.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

In addition to the rights above, California residents may request the specific pieces of personal information we hold; the categories of sources, purposes, and recipients; and the categories sold/shared or disclosed for a business purpose. Section 3 lists the categories we collect; in the preceding 12 months we have collected each of those categories, disclosed each of them for business purposes to the recipient categories in Section 5, and — when advertising cookies are enabled — “sold”/“shared” identifiers and internet-activity data with advertising partners. We do not use sensitive personal information except as permitted under CPRA §7027(m), so no Right-to-Limit link is required. California's “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code §1798.83) also lets you request a list of third parties to whom we disclosed personal information for their own direct marketing — we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing without consent.

Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, Maryland, Florida & other state residents

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including CT, NJ, VA, TX, MD, FL, CO, OR, DE, NH, MN, and others as they take effect) may exercise the rights described above, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising, sales, and certain profiling, and the appeal right. Maryland residents: we limit our collection to what is reasonably necessary for the services you request, and we do not sell sensitive data. Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information as defined by NRS 603A, and you may register your opt-out preference at the email above.

13. Children

Our services are for adults and homeowners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and we do not knowingly sell or share minors' personal information. If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Financial incentives & referral programs

We may offer referral rewards, discounts, or loyalty programs whose value relates to the information you provide (for example, a referral's contact details). Each program's material terms are presented when you sign up; participation is always optional and you may withdraw at any time by contacting us. We value the data involved as reasonably related to the cost of the reward offered.

15. Changes & how to reach us

We may update this policy as our business and the law evolve; the “Last updated” date above will change, and material changes will be highlighted on this page or communicated directly. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
